60% of executives will watch video before reading

Online videos steer purchasing decisions

Emarketer.com has reported on a recent Forbes Insights survey that shows how positively executives respond to online videos. It seems that more and more busy executives, who might not have the time to read lengthy reviews or analyses, rely on video to get informed before making purchases. Of the executives asked, around three-quarters said they watched work-related videos on business websites at least once a week, and more than half did the same on YouTube.

Just as important is the fact that around two thirds went to the vendor’s website after viewing a video and over 50% searched for more information. Among young executives, in particular, there is a high likelihood that they make a purchase after watching a video. Clearly these findings show just how right Alcatel-Lucent’s CEO is when he says that video will soon be a major part of all business models.
